MY LIKES-BUILT HOUSE

hey y'all.
so lately i've been thinking about instagram. it was actually after i spent like 20$ on water. i mean it wasn't just water. i bought some FIJI water and blk. oh, that's actually still just water...well, why did i buy it?

- the story begins with me scrolling down the instagram. or weheartit. or whateverwasit. just some social site. oh i actually think it was tumblr. okay enough, it doesn't matter. i saw the blk water there. and i saw how good does it look on the white sheet that everyone takes photos on. and i so wanted to get one immediately... of course getting anything like this in prague is completely impossible because we just don't have them cool things. so after a while of waiting (a year) i finally got one from the Candy Store. i bought some FIJI water as well and took a picture of them on the white sheets. few moments later i found myself sitting on the bed just starring at the picture i took. i was just a few moments before posting it. and this popped in my mind.

why the hell should i be spending my money on freaking bottles of water and taking pictures of them? what does it get me? ARE THESE GONNA MATTER IN LIKE 20 YEARS?

no, of course they're not. where did the pictures with memories go? post a picture of you and your best friend laughing your asses off in old t-shirts you sleep in. and what will you get? maybe 2 or 3 likes, one will be yours, one hers and one of some man living in india (or that's what happens to me most often.) or post a picture of expensive stuff you own. on white background if possible, an apple laptop, expensive water, clothing /black if possible/ watches, sunglasses and don't forget to tag the brands on the pics and woah! like 100 likes! when you're popular maybe even 200! but what do you have out of that when you look at these two examples in 20 years?

when you'll look at the first picture it'll remind you of the evening and the hilarious things your best friend has said. you'll recall the laughter and the friend you have in her/him. you'll be sitting, looking at it, maybe even remembering more memories connected to this one and you'll be happy. because it will remind you of the happy time you had, right? because you'll have the memory in it.
but then you'll find another picture... oh, it's 2 bottles of water on white sheets. oh, umm. nice...

SEE WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY? 

i feel like instagram is pretending like it's the place to share your photos with your friends but it's not. it should be more like take a picture of expensive shit and gain for likes.

also... i've never thought i'm the instagram-kind of person. as long as i took a picture and my first though was, woo i'm gonna post it as soon as possible. i mean ISN'T THIS CRAZY? we're not anymore living in this world. we're living there, on the internet in our own likes-built houses. and the more likes you have the stronger your walls are and the more comfortable you feel. so in time you stop going out and you live in your own comfort-zone. there, on instagram.

SO PLEASE DON'T LET THE INSTAGRAM TAKE THE REAL PHOTOS AWAY FROM YOU. THE PHOTOS YOU HAVE A MEMORY IN. DON'T STOP TAKING THEM JUST BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT VERY POPULAR AND DON'T HAVE EXPENSIVE THINGS ON THEM. AND ALSO MIGHT PROBABLY NOT GET THAT MANY LIKES BUT TRY TO TAG ME (@gretavbc)  ON THEM AND I'LL BE SURE TO LIKE THEM AND APPRECIATE THEM - ALSO YOU WILL MOST PROBABLY MAKE MY DAY.  #realphotos

btw i love instagram and posting on it and by this article i'm not stopping using it or anything.
just trying to figure it all out
